Srikakulam Urban Development Authority (SUDA) Chairman and Jana Sena Party senior leader Korikana Ravikumar, speaking to The Hindu on Sunday, December 22, expressed hope that the construction of the international airport at Bhogapuram would benefit Srikakulam district, including the Pydibhimavaram industrial zone, which is only 20.4 km away from the airport.

He said that Srikakulam would reap bigger benefits when Bhogapuram airport is completed, as the land bank between here and Bhogapuram is bigger than that between Bhogapuram and the Visakhapatnam district.

“SUDA will plan the improvement of civic infrastructure in the Srikakulam-Bhogapuram route, where many industries related to the aviation sector and residential zones are expected to come up. We will also ask real estate developers to design layouts to meet national standards so that new residential zones can come up quickly”Korikana RavikumarChairman, Srikakulam Urban Development Authority

“SUDA will plan the improvement of civic infrastructure in the Srikakulam-Bhogapuram route, where many industries related to the aviation sector and residential zones are expected to come up. We will also ask real estate developers to design layouts to meet national standards so that new residential zones can come up quickly,” said Mr. Ravikumar, an industrialist himself.

“Many schools, hospitals, and movie theatres would also come up on the route. SUDA would try its best to derive maximum benefits with the construction of the airport. The economic activity on the route would also ensure job opportunities for many,” he added.

Mr. Ravikumar requested Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu to set up an Aviation University and aircraft Maintenance, Repairs and Overhaul (MRO) facility here so that youngsters of Srikakulam can have more academic and job opportunities.

He said that he would submit a report to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and JSP president and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan about SUDA developmental plans in Itchapuram, Tekkali, Palakonda, Rajam, Ranasthalam and other places in the district.

“SUDA has jurisdiction over 37 mandals in the undivided Srikakulam district. Proper development in accordance with the master plan will ensure speedy development of all areas,” he added.
