The Child Monitoring System (CMS) App used in Bhavani Deeksha Relinquishment atop Indrakeeladri to trace the missing children, would be sent to Maha Kumbh Mela – 2025, scheduled from January 13, 2025, said NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha.
“Through CMS about 15,650 children, including a few Bhavanis were given tags to prevent children going missing during Bhavani Deeksha Viramana (relinquishment), an annual festival celebrated in Vijayawada, from December 21 to 25,” Mr. Lakshmisha, who designed the app, said.
NTR District Women Development and Child Welfare (WD&CW) department Project Director, G. Uma Devi, who constituted special teams to trace the missing children said that many children who got separated from their parents were identified by using the tags given to them.
“Following the directions of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to utilise technology, we have designed the CMS app. The app, which was designed in a day, helped in tracing many children. We are planning to recommend the Maha Kumbh Mela organisers to make use of the app,” Mr. Lakshmisha told The Hindu on Wednesday.
More than 20 teams, comprising Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs), staff from One Stop Centre (OSC), District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) and Anganwadi Centres were deputed at the Pandit Nehru Bus Station (PNBS), railway station and other public places.
“The tag will be tied to the child with a QR Code, in which the name of the child, parents’ details, mobile number, hailing from which place and district would be incorporated. When a devotee scans the QR code, he will get all the details and can trace the parents by calling their mobile number,” the Collector said.
Ms. Uma Devi said the teams identified the children who attended Bhavani Deeksha Viramana atop Indrakeeladri, and gave them tags at the bathing ghats, parking places, queue lines and other points.
“The CMS app helped us trace my seven-year-old son, who went missing during the Bhavani Deeksha Viramana. Thanks to the officers for introducing the app,” said a devotee Bhaskar, who came for the festival from Gurla village in Vizianagaram district.
Other apps designed for disseminating information to the devotees on the arrangements for Bhavani Deeksha Viramana received good response, said Mr. Lakshmisha.
“My daughter got separated from us during the festival atop Indrakeeladri. The tag given by the officers at the railway station helped us trace our girl within an hour,” said Saraswathi, who came from Khammam in neighbouring Telangana.
