A fire broke out on Tuesday (December 24, 2024) in a residential building in Mumbai’s Bandra West, where famous playback singer Shaan resides. One elderly woman was critically injured in the fire incident that erupted on the sixth floor of the high-rise building.

The fire erupted around 1:45 a.m. at the Fortune Enclave and was confined to a flat on the sixth floor of the 15-storey high-rise building. Shaan resides on the 11th floor of the building. A woman identified as Sati Parayani (80) was hospitalised over breathing difficulties. She was found in an unconscious state on the flooring of the eighth floor.

According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), nine persons were rescued from the 15th floor, while three persons from eighth floor and one from second floor of the building.

Initial enquiries reportedly suggest a short circuit as the cause of the fire, as per the fire department officials. However, the police and fire services investigation into the incident is underway.
