“Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement against B.R. Ambedkar in the Rajya Sabha was pre-planned with an intention to disrespect the Indian Constitution,” said Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader K. Balabharathi.
Speaking at a protest organised by Tamil Nadu Untouchability Eradication Front against Mr. Shah here on Tuesday, Ms. Balabharathi said in the guise of celebrating the 75th year of Indian Constitution, they wanted to demean the Constitution.
“Knowing that his statement in Parliament would create a huge uproar at national-level, he staged the drama,” she noted.
It was not just the personal statement of Mr. Shah, but the political ideology of RSS to create a ‘Hindu Rashtra,’ she added.
Remarking BJP’s tragic loss in the Ayodhya district of Uttar Pradesh in the recently concluded Lok Sabha election, Ms. Balabharathi said that even when the people of the constituency gave a fitting reply to BJP by not voting for them, they have still not learned lessons.
“Uttar Pradesh, popularly known as the bastion of BJP, pulled the party from its 67 seats to just 32 seats. This itself proves that the politics of Ram Temple has not earned the intended results,” she added.
Since the Indian Constitution espouses progressive principles of secularism, federalism, fraternity, etc., the document (Indian Constitution) had always prevented BJP from accomplishing its task of dividing the people in the name of religion and caste, Ms. Balabharathi said.
Mr. Shah, who well-played the cards of RSS to alter the Indian Constitution, should resign from the position of Home Minister, she said.
