Two workers hospitalised after gas leak at pharma unit


Two workers at a pharma plant named Rakshit Drugs Pvt. Ltd., in Parawada fell unconscious after a suspected gas leak on Monday. The gas is believed to be hydrogen sulphide.

“The affected workers hailed from Odisha. They were shifted to a private hospital in Gajuwaka for further treatment. One of them is in the ICU. We are monitoring the situation and an inquiry is on,” Deputy Chief Inspector of Factories G.V.V.S. Narayana said.

Pharma City Staff and Workers Union honorary president Ganisetty Satyanarayana said that the incident occurred at around 5.30 a.m. on Monday. “The government is not taking proactive measures to bring down the frequency of industrial accidents in the district,” he said.
