An art and photography exhibition was inaugurated at the District Central Library on Monday as part of the programme to celebrate the silver jubilee of the unveiling of the 133-foot tall statue of Tamil saint-poet Tiruvalluvar in Kanniyakumari.

The exhibition was inaugurated by District Collector M. Pradeep Kumar on Monday in the presence of A. P. Sivakumar, District Library Officer,  and senior officials.

The artworks, expressing creative ideas themed on Thirukkural verses, were put up by students of Design School, and independent artists.

A seven-foot tall Tamil anthology featuring 1,330 stories based on the Thirukkural, written by 133 authors and compiled by S. Vinothini of Ahazhl Trust and Literary Forum, Perambalur, is one of the major attractions at the exhibition.

A display of books on Thirukkural by various authors will be part of the exhibition, which will conclude on December 31, said a press release.
