Ahead of the Maha Kumbh Mela in January, thousands of saints, including Naga sadhus, arrived in Prayagraj on December 22.
A sacred ritual, the establishment of the Dharma Dhwaj, was conducted with great reverence at the Shri Panchayati Akhara Mahanirvani. This ceremony symbolises the pride and spiritual purity of the Maha Kumbh Mela.

The 51-foot Dharma Dhwaj was hoisted atop a wooden pillar at the Sangam. The flag hoisting was accompanied by the chanting of Vedic mantras. Before raising the flag, the saints invoked the sage Kapil and adorned the flag with flowers, garlands, and a peacock feather.
