BLDE (deemed to be) University organised its 12th convocation in Vijayapura on Sunday. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi delivered the convocation address and distributed degree certificates.
Mr. Joshi said that India will soon become the world’s hub in medical and manufacturing sectors due to the Central government’s focus on these areas and the contribution of various government and private agencies, academies, research institutions and universities.
“India has abundant natural and human resources. From the Aryabhatas and Shalyas of ancient India to today’s young professionals, honest and skilled youth are contributing significantly to the development of the country. As infrastructure facilities are increasing in our country, overseas investors are coming here to invest. India is now developing in every field and is in the forefront in supplying various goods to the world. Investment opportunities in fields like medical education and health services are attractive. All this will lead to India becoming the hub of the medical and manufacturing sectors,” he said.
He recalled the contribution of the BLDE Association’s founders and current leadership.
“Scholars like F.G. Halakatti, seer of Banthanal Math and others who founded the association, B.M. Patil, who strengthened it, and M.B. Patil, who diversified and expanded its activities, have all contributed to it,” he said.
The association has revolutionized education in this region, he added.
Mr. Patil has been responsible for steering the schools and colleges of the association that has produced excellent students. They have achieved great things, he said. He wished that the university achieves global excellence. He also hoped the sportspersons being groomed by the institution become Olympians.
Chairman and CEO of AxSpring in Texas, U.S., Arvind Melligeri and Chairperson and CEO of Kirloskar Systems Private Limited in Bengaluru Geetanjali Kirloskar were awarded honorary doctorate.
Shubham Himanshu Shah of Vijayapura was awarded six gold medals and Isha Shailendra Dixit of Delhi won five gold medals and two cash awards.
Chancellor Mr. Patil, MLC Sunilgouda Patil, Vice-Chancellor R.S. Mudhol, pro-Chancellor Arun Cham Inamdar, College Principal Arvind Patil, Registrar R.V. Kulkarni, teachers, students, parents and staff were present.
