Four girls fall into Peechi reservoir, 3 in critical condition

Four girls, all aged 16, fell into the Peechi Dam reservoir on Sunday while visiting the site.

The girls, who reached their friend’s house for a church festival celebration, had gone to view the dam when the accident occurred. The girls reportedly slipped from a rock and fell into the reservoir. Local people rushed to their aid after hearing their desperate cries for help.

The girls—Ann Grace, Aleena, Erin, from Pattikkad, and Nima, from Peechi—were quickly pulled from the water, but three of them remain in critical condition and are currently on ventilator support at the hospital. It is reported that two of the girls fell in first, and the other two followed while attempting to rescue them.

According to hospital sources, there has been a slight improvement in their conditions, but they remain in a precarious state. Revenue Minister K. Rajan has ordered the formation of a special medical board to oversee their treatment.

Local residents, who acted quickly in the rescue efforts, stated that three of the girls were unconscious when pulled from out of the water.
