Remote-operated grass cutters to be deployed at parks and smart city lakes in Coimbatore

The Coimbatore Corporation has deployed remote-operated grass cutting machines to maintain parks and Smart City lakes.

The Corporation said that overgrown bushes in parks and Smart City lakes, along with a shortage of manpower, have made manual pruning of the grass time-consuming.

To address this challenge, the civic body has purchased five remote-operated grass-cutting machines, each costing ₹1.5 lakh. One machine will be allocated to each of the five zones in the city.

A trial run of the diesel-powered machines was conducted at Kumarasamy Lake on Saturday to assess the effectiveness. Following the trial, the Corporation will evaluate the results and decide whether to purchase additional machines, a Corporation official said.
