To promote and popularise the mobile application, Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS), of the Indian Railways, an exhibition was conducted at Erode Railway Station on Wednesday.

Organised by the Commercial Department of Salem Railway Division, the application, available for download on the Google Play Store, can be used for booking unreserved train and platform tickets. Officials said over 6% of all unreserved tickets issued across Salem Division in December, 2024, were booked through this app. The app helps reduce the length of queues at booking counters and save time for passengers as well.

Based on a survey, the idea to popularise the app through a competition featuring innovative content such as posters and short videos was floated. A competition was held on December 25, 2024, at the Railway Higher Secondary School, Erode, where 55 students participated. Their posters were exhibited on platforms 1 and 2 of the station, and the videos were screened on the coach guidance boards.

Varsha Chhalotre, Divisional Commercial Manager of Salem Division, inaugurated the exhibition and students of the railway school promoted the features of the app among passengers. Pamphlets were also distributed to the passengers. Certificates and cash awards were presented to the students for their participation.
