The eighth annual Mangaluru Kambala organised by Mangaluru Kambala Samithi will be held for two days at Goldfinch City at Bangra Kuloor from December 28, according to Capt. Brijesh Chowta, MP, Dakshina Kannada and president of the samithi.
Addressing press persons here on Thursday he said that the Kambala will be held on Rama-Lakshmana jodu kare (double track).
The race will be held in six categories. They are ‘Hagga Hiriya’ and ‘Hagga Kiriya’, ‘Naegilu Hiriya’ and ‘Nagegilu Kiriya’, ‘Kane Halage’ and ‘Adda Halage’.
Former Managing Director of MRPL M. Venkatesh will inaugurate the event at 8.30 a.m. on Saturday.
The finals of the competitions will be held on Sunday, he said.
Eshwar Prasad Shetty, vice-president of the committee said that there will be reels competition. Reels on Kambala should be shared on the Instagram with ‘#mangalurukambala8’ hashtag. In addition, there will be a drawing competition for children in two categories – for those aged below 10 years and for those aged between 10 years and 15 years.
