CPI holds foundation day rally in Khammam

CPI State secretary and Kothagudem MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao said the unity of the Left parties is the need of the hour to ward off the threat to the secular fabric and federal structure of the country from the BJP-RSS combine.

The CPI will strive for Left unity to emerge as an alternative to the bourgeois parties and save democracy from the communal and capitalist forces, he added.

He was speaking at a meeting held on the occasion of the CPI Foundation Day at Bhakta Ramadasu Kalakshetram in Khammam on Thursday (December 26).

A huge rally was organised in the town before the meeting as part of the beginning of the nationwide centenary celebrations of the foundation of the CPI. Scores of red-shirt volunteers and the cadres of the party’s frontal organisations took part in the rally.

Mr. Sambasiva Rao said the CPI has been relentlessly championing the cause of the working class, peasants and other toiling masses ever since it was formed on December 26, 1925.

He outlined the historic mass agitations spearheaded by the CPI, including the Telangana Peasants’ Armed Struggle against the feudal, imperialist and divisive forces to date. He also recalled the role of the CPI in spearheading the separate Telangana movement towards its logical end.

CPI senior leader Puvvada Nageshwara Rao and several other veteran CPI leaders were felicitated on the occasion.

CPI State executive committee member Bagam Hemantha Rao and others spoke.
