A private financier operating in Palladam limits was duped of ₹7.5 lakh by online fraudsters on Tuesday.
Believing in a WhatsApp message that appeared to be from an account-holding bank that he was late to update ‘Know Your Customer’ details and that he faced the risk of the account getting blocked, Thangaraj, the financier, had shared the information.
In a short while, he had received messages from the bank stating that a sum of ₹7,47,799 had been withdrawn from his account in four transactions. The Tiruppur district Cyber Crime wing police have registered a case.
