Tangedco staff injured in wild boar attack

A Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) staff lost a finger and suffered multiple injuries after a wild boar attacked him while on duty at Diginarai village in Talavadi Hills on Tuesday.

Palanisamy, a lineman, was performing repair work on farmland in the village when a boar emerged from the bushes and attacked him, causing him to lose a finger. He sustained several other injuries as well. Other farmers chased the boar away and took Palanisamy to the Government Upgraded Primary Health Centre in Talavadi. He was later taken to a private hospital in Gobichettipalayam, where he is undergoing treatment.

Farmers said that wild boars are causing extensive damage to crops and have urged the Forest Department to take necessary action to prevent it from entering farmland.
