Citizens of Gurmitkal taluk under the banner of Taluk Abhivruddi Samiti and with the support of the District Bar Association have raised a demand for the establishment of offices of major departments and taluk court.
The new taluk of Gurmitkal was announced along with Wadagera and Hunsagi after being carved out of Yadgir, Shahapur and Shorapur taluks six years ago.
However, offices of the required government departments have not been established so far, barring a few like the Tahsildar’s and Taluk Panchayat’s. Now, citizens associated with various civic organisations have raised their voice for the establishment of government departments.
On Monday, Shantaveera Gurumurugharajendra Swami led a protest by various organisations to highlight their grievances.
“The new taluk remains neglected. None of the required offices have been established so far. People are forced to go to Yadgir even for routine works. It is time that the government announces a special package to facilitate the overall development of Gurmitkal taluk,” the seer said.
Gurmitkal taluk even does not have a taluk Civil and JMFC court complex. The litigant public are forced to go to Yadgir Civil and JMFC court complex for any litigation purpose.
“A proposal through the Public Works Department was sent to the government seeking the release of ₹50 lakh to take up the necessary repair works to the Town Hall building to establish a Civil and JMFC court complex. However, the grant has not been released so far. The government should take up this issue on top priority and establish the court complex,” said District Bar Association president C.S. Malipatil.
