EWS quota income limit revised to ₹5 lakh for private schools

Lieutenant-Governor V.K. Saxena has approved the proposal to increase the threshold limit of annual income from ₹2.5 lakh to ₹5 lakh for students availing of the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) quota in the Capital’s private schools, Raj Niwas officials said on Monday.

“The move will make a much larger chunk of students belonging to all categories, reserved as well as general, eligible for admission to private schools,” an official said.

This development came after the Delhi High Court on November 13 observed that a 2023 order, asking the government to increase the threshold limit from the existing ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakh, had not been followed.
