Farmers in Vellakovil-Kangayam belt who are continuously losing their livestock to packs of stray dogs have sought compensation of ₹10,000 per goat/sheep.
The farmers submitted a petition to this effect to Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin when he visited Tiruppur recently.
The farmers had described the losses caused to the extent of lakhs of rupees per farmer whenever their goats get killed in droves by the dogs.
They complained that the district administration and the Animal Husbandry Department had not acted decisively on their innumerable representations over several months.
