Congress MP Chamala Kiran Reddy questioned the Bharatiya Janata Party’s ‘over-enthusiasm’ in coming to the defence of actor Allu Arjun, and for not giving the same space to the deceased woman and her family.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Reddy said the BJP seldom expresses its pain for the deaths of poor people and it also reflected when more than a hundred people died in a stampede at a religious sermon of a baba in Uttar Pradesh where party is in power.
Expressing his anguish over the BJP and BRS parties’ stand on the Allu Arjun incident, he said he could not understand why they have so much love for the film actor. Is it just to blame and criticise the Congress party for arresting Allu Arjun, he asked, and wanted to know why the parties are not showing the some sympathy to the affected family and to the boy in the hospital.
He said the government is supporting the film industry and that is why some concessions were given to Pushpa 2. Neither the government nor the Chief Minister have anything personal against Allu Arjun, he said.
He said the Chief Minister had made it clear that had Allu Arjun been more responsible, the stampede incident would have been avoided but the opposition parties want to use this episode to target the CM going to the extent of ignoring a death and another child battling for his life.
On the attack on Allu Arjun’s house, he said the culprits had been arrested by the police immediately and the party will not support such incidents. The Chief Minister also sent a strict warning that those indulging in violence would be taken to task, he said.
