Specially challenged children had a narrow escape after an electric wire snapped andĀ fell on their school van in Kalaburagi on Monday, leaving a woman with burns.
The woman, identified as Bhagyashree Ravindra, suffered burns in her abdomen, arms and legs after coming into contact with the school vehicle. She has been admitted to a private hospital.
The van belonging to Parivartana School was carrying 14 specially challenged children to the school. The live electric wire fell on the vehicle while the van was stationed near Old Jewargi Cross to pick up children.
Unaware of the danger, Bhagyashree boarded the school vehicle with her son Ayush.
According to sources, she suffered burns as she was in contact with the ground even as she held onto the vehicle to climb into it.
The children in the vehicle also became anxious and started crying, while local people rushed to the spot to rescue the woman. They shifted her to hospital.
All the children travelling in the vehicle are safe.
Kalaburagi South MLA Allamprabhu Patil and Police Commissioner Sharanappa S.D. visited the spot and gathered details from the officials.
