Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) received the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) 2024 National award in the ‘Best Public Awareness Programme’ category. The award was presented during the 46th All India Public Relations conference at Chhattisgarh recently. Former MP Nand Kumar Sai, PRSI national president, Dr. Ajit Pathak, gave the award to Additional Commissioner D.V. Ramana Murthy who attended the meeting on behalf of the corporation.
GVMC Commissioner P. Sampath Kumar said that the corporation has always been in the forefront in organising awareness programmes. Since the year 2023, the GVMC has been organising various campaigns on ‘Eco-Vizag’, Swachch Survekshan, seasonal diseases, home composting, community gardening, single-use plastic, source segregation among others. In the view of these successful campaigns, the GVMC has received the award, he said, adding that this was only possible due to complete support of the public.
