Minister for Industries T.R.B. Rajaa on Sunday inspected the 120 acres of land identified at Jahir Ammapalayam in Salem city, for setting up a textile park.
After inspecting the land, the Minister said that to ensure employment, develop industries, and improve the livelihood of the people, various schemes were being implemented by the Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin. During the Chief Minister’s visit to Salem in December 2021, he announced a mini Tidel park and textile park for the Salem district.
Based on the announcement, in May 2023, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for a mini tidel park at Anaigoundampatti, and the park was constructed at ₹29.50 crore on 55,000 sq. ft. of land with three floors. The Chief Minister inaugurated the tidel park in September this year. For the textile park, 120 acres is identified at Jahir Ammapalayam. Through this textile park, 10,000 people will be provided jobs directly, and 30,000 to 40,000 people will get jobs indirectly. The works for the textile park will start soon, the Minister said.
He also inspected the mini tidel park and held discussions with officials regarding expansion of Salem Airport.
