The visit was part of the Union government initiative, Yuva Sangam.

A team of 60 students from the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh visited Auroville in Tamil Nadu as part of Yuva Sangam Phase-V. Yuva Sangam is an initiative of the Union government under the Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat programme aimed at strengthening the bonds between States and fostering unity among youth.

The National Institute of Technical Teachers’ Training and Research (NITTTR) is the nodal institution for the visit.

As part of their journey, the students visited Auroville in Villupuram on Saturday. They explored the Sri Aurobindo International Institute of Educational Research (SAIIER), gaining insights into the concept of integral education.

They were also introduced to the ‘Auroville Calling’ programme, an initiative that invites individuals from all walks of life to participate in volunteer programmes within Auroville.

They also visited Matrimandir, the Solar Kitchen, the Unity Pavilion and Savitri Bhavan, a significant site dedicated to Sri Aurobindo

According to a release, the primary objective of the initiative is to foster a deeper understanding of India’s rich tapestry — its diverse traditions, historical roots, and core values that bind the nation together.

The visit to Tamil Nadu will provide students with a unique opportunity to delve into the nuances of the Tamil language, immerse themselves in the State’s vibrant traditions and cultivate meaningful communication with the local community, the release said.
