The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, said isolated places over Chengalpattu, Villupuram, and Cuddalore districts and Puducherry were likely to receive heavy rain on Tuesday (December 24, 2024) and Wednesday (December 25, 2024).
This is due to a weakened depression over the Bay of Bengal becoming a well-marked low-pressure area, which is likely to reach the southwest Bay of Bengal near the north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coasts around Tuesday. The RMC has also predicted light to moderate rain at a few places over north coastal Tamil Nadu. Thunderstorms are likely at one or two places over the rest of the State and Puducherry and Karaikal areas on Tuesday and Wednesday.
On Monday, light to moderate rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Mist or haze is likely during the early morning hours at isolated pockets. For Chennai, the skies are likely to be partly cloudy with light/moderate rain in some areas on Monday. The State recorded dry weather on Sunday.
