Police intensifies search for missing Kozhikode army man

The police, with the assistance of the cyber cell, have intensified efforts to locate K. Vishnu, a Pavangad native and soldier, who reportedly went missing during a train journey to Kozhikode after taking leave from the Pune Army Sports Institute on December 16.

A missing person case was registered following a complaint from Vishnu’s family. Initial investigations drew on WhatsApp messages and phone records suggesting his travel plans and last known location.

However, according to police sources, a voice message sent by Vishnu to his family indicating he had reached Kannur was found to be incorrect. Preliminary cyber cell investigations revealed his last tower location to be in Pune, prompting further inquiries.

“We have dispatched officers to Pune to gather more information and verify details with the army officers at the Pune Army Sports Institute. Currently, there are no significant updates,” said a senior officer from Elathur police station. The army is also assisting in the search.

According to Vishnu’s family, he contacted them on December 16 to confirm his leave and travel plans. On December 17, around 2:30 p.m., he reportedly informed his mother that he had arrived in Kannur. Following this call, his phone was allegedly switched off, and no further communication was received. Concerned by his absence, the family reported the matter to the police.

The family has also sought the intervention of local representatives, Ministers, and the District Collector to expedite the search. Vishnu’s disappearance comes as the family was preparing for his wedding on January 11, 2025. A boxer with a commendable record, Vishnu joined the army in 2016
