The Greater Chennai City Police on Saturday arrested five persons who allegedly possessed methamphetamine in two different places- Madhavaram and Koyambedu and seized over 1.5 kilo of drug altogether from them.
On the orders of the City Police Commissioner A.Arun, police personnel are conducting intensive drive against the synthetic drug- methamphetamine. In pursuant to the drive, a special team of police personnel led by Madhavaram Inspector was monitoring the movements at Roja Nagar and nabbed two persons who were moving in a suspicious manner and reportedly selling the drug. On searching their belonging, the police team seized 1.5 kilo of methamphetamine and a bike used by them.
Similarly, in the early hours of Saturday, the CMBT police intercepted a car at Nespakkam Junction and the persons who travelled in the car were found possessing the drug. 7.5 grams of methamphetamine, three mobile phones and a car were seized from them. Police arrested three men who have been identified as M.Balaji, 31 of Vyasarpadi, T.Vigneshwaran, 30 of Thiruvanmiyur and T.Jaison, 32 of Padianallur.
There were remanded to judicial custody.
