The Puttur Town Police on Friday arrested three women on charges of theft and recovered gold jewellery worth ₹1.02 lakh from them.
Jyothi and Shreemathi, residents of Rajajinagar in Bengaluru, were arrested while jewellery wroth ₹25,000 was recovered from them on a complaint given by one Saraswathi of Golthamajalu on Thursday. The accused had allegedly stolen the valuables from the handbag of the complainant at Puttur KSRTC Bus Stand.
In another case, Vidya, a resident of Neermarga in Mangaluru, was arrested on charges of stealing three gold rings from a jewellery shop on Court Road in Puttur. While the incident occurred on December 13, when the accused went to the shop in the guise of purchasing jewellery, the owner Shivaprasad Bhat noticed the missing jewellery on December 19 and lodged a complaint immediately. On her arrest, the police recovered rings worth ₹77,000.
