Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday said the DMK MPs had unequivocally conveyed a message in Parliament that the BJP government at the Centre could not treat Tamil Nadu with a step-motherly attitude.
In a statement, Mr. Stalin said that if the BJP does not ensure the rights of the people in Tamil Nadu, it would be taught a fitting lesson. The unanimous voice of the MPs over various issues, including the ‘One Nation, One Election’ Bill, would have reached Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government, he added.
“The entire nation has been overawed by the DMK MPs’ performance. They have succeeded in drawing the attention of the nation towards the State’s rights, and welfare. As a leader of the Dravidian movement, I take pride in their performance. The country is keenly watching their stand on vital issues,” he added.
Mr. Stalin further said that Mr. Modi remained silent on the Adani issue and the Manipur riots. “We could see the conduct of the BJP MPs [in Parliament], who were against any debate on the failures of their government,” the Chief Minister added.
Mr. Stalin further said: “At a time when the country is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution, Union Home Minister Amit Shah denigrated Ambedkar. His [Mr. Shah’s] remarks exposed the BJP’s upper-class fascist face…”
