Crude bombs recovered from house following blasts in Kannur

Three crude bombs were recovered from the house of a person at Parikalam in Ulikkal here on Friday morning following reports of an explosion in the vicinity. He had left the Bharatiya Janata Party and joined the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in January this year.

The bombs, stored in three paint buckets, were found on the terrace of Girish’s residence at Kakuvaparambil during a search conducted by the police and a bomb detection squad. An empty container found nearby is believed to have contained a bomb that had detonated. The operation was initiated after local people reported a loud explosion near the house earlier in the day.

Authorities rushed to the scene after being alerted by residents.
