Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari has issued directives to expedite solar and other projects aimed at empowering women self-help groups (SHGs) across the State. She instructed officials to ensure the timely establishment of solar power plants on 231 acres of leased endowment land in five districts as part of the first phase. She emphasised that the project must be completed within the next six months.
During a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat, convened to assess the progress of various schemes under the Mahila Shakti programme on Monday, the Chief Secretary urged officials to expedite efforts to facilitate SHGs in procuring 150 electric buses and transferring them to the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGRTC).
Additionally, Ms.Santhi Kumari directed officials to ensure the completion of district federation buildings by June 2025 to strengthen the operational framework for women’s groups. She also announced the organisation of the SARAS Mela at the Indira Mahila Shakti Bazaar in Madhapur, scheduled for January 25. The event will provide a platform for showcasing and selling products crafted by women entrepreneurs.
Highlighting Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s vision of transforming SHG members into successful entrepreneurs, the Chief Secretary urged officials to accelerate their efforts to achieve this goal. Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Secretary Lokesh Kumar, Commissioner Srijana, and Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty CEO Divya Devarajan attended the meeting.
