Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on Monday announced the launch of its new national Wi-Fi roaming service to all Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) customers in Puducherry. This innovative service aims at enhancing connectivity and providing seamless internet access, while roaming across India to BSNL FTTH customers.

Addressing a press conference here, BSNL Chairman-cum-Managing Director A. Robert J. Ravi said Mannadipet village in Puducherry was the second village to be fully Wi-Fi enabled, as BSNL extends its Wi-Fi roaming facility to rural areas.

This service connects both BSNL and non-BSNL customers through a seamless network of Wi-Fi hotspots. In addition, BSNL Wi-Fi users can avail of high speed internet service when roaming into another BSNL Wi-Fi hotspot without any need for re-authentication.

BSNL’s Wi-Fi roaming is a leap forward in bridging the rural-urban divide, empowering every Indian with affordable, high-speed internet access across the country, Mr. Ravi said.

BSNL has also launched its Intranet TV (BiTV) to its mobile users in Puducherry. The facility offers over 300 live TV channels, including premium channels and is free of cost. The facility will be rolled out to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand in January 2025, with nationwide availability planned soon, he added.
