Collector A.K. Kamal Kishore has warned that a fine of ₹50,000 will be imposed on government and private organisations that failed to set up an Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) in workplaces with more than 10 employees.
The Collector said that the government and private organisations in Tenkasi district with more than 10 employees must establish ICC to handle the complaints of sexual harassment against women. The committee must consist of four members with the chairperson being the senior female employee working in the organisation.
The members should include two employees who work for the advancement of women and one individual from a non governmental organisation or person with wide knowledge about sexual harassment issues. The committee must have at least 50% female members.
He further noted that if the ICC was not established or if no action is taken based on the complaint, the organisation’s license and registration will be cancelled. Additionally, government offices, private companies, educational institutions and any organisation employing more than 10 people must establish ICC and submit its details to the email address poshtenkasidistrict@gamil.com and the District Social Welfare office in Tenkasi district before January 25.
Mr. Kamal Kishore said, “The Social Welfare and Women’s Empowerment department of Tenkasi district has introduced a unique “Acham Thavir” QR code to help women file complaints of sexual harassment, and women can submit complaints without providing any personal details.”
