As India is moving towards becoming the third biggest economy, narratives against the country that are inspired by Western nations will increase. Countrymen should stay united in facing these narratives that are meant to slow down India’s growth, said former Chief of Research and Analysis Wing Vikram Sood in Mangaluru on Saturday.
Participating in a session on ‘Art and craft of building and dismantling narratives’ on the first day of Mangaluru Lit Fest, Mr. Sood said it hurts western nations if Indian economy grows as India will then have a share in the resources that western nations have been using. These nations do not want India to develop as an economic hub. The narratives related to the Citizen Amendment Act, Article 370 are all part of the scheme of Western nations to slow down India’s economy,” he said.
India, he said, is rising at a time when the world is in a flux. Mr. Sood said countrymen should be on their own in tacking narratives. No country should be treated as permanent friend. The government should counter narratives in our own way by using all necessary tools. It is good that the government is working towards retaining digital data in the country.

Earlier, writer S.L. Bhyrappa called upon organisers of Mangaluru Lift Fest to focus more on driving youth to the cause of nation.
Inaugurating the seventh edition of two-day Mangaluru Lit Fest on Saturday, Mr. Bhyrappa said the fest was started with an objective of making youth seriously deliberate on issues concerning the country. “Organisers should introspect whether they have succeeded in this objective,” Mr. Byrappa said.
