Kasaragod man involved in series of thefts arrested


The Dakshina Kannada district police have arrested Sooraj K., 36, a resident of Uppala in Kasaragod district of Kerala, who was allegedly involved in a series of seven house-break thefts reported in Puttur, Kadaba, Bantwal and Vitla police stations limits in 2024.

The police recovered 200 grams of gold ornaments worth ₹18 lakh and a car from the arrested person on Friday.

In a statement, the police said theives broke open the door of the house of labourer Kishore in Sarve village of Vitla taluk and made away with ornaments worth ₹2 lakh on December 20. Similar thefts were reported from six houses in Kadaba, Bantwal and Vitla police station limits a few days ago. Superintendent of Police N. Yatish formed a special investigation team comprising of personnel from Puttur Rural, Kadaba and Vitla police stations.

The police said Sooraj was found to be involved in seven house-break thefts. Efforts are on trace other persons involved, the police said.
