The Mangaluru police have arrested P.K. Shameer, 42, a resident of Kozhikode in Kerala, on the charge of bringing narcotic drugs from Goa to Mangaluru and Kerala. The police seized 738 grams of hydro weed worth ₹73 lakh, a car, and a mobile phone from him.

The police said that based on a tip-off, a team of Central Crime Branch sleuths stopped the car in which Shameer was taking the drugs near Bappanadu Durgaparameshwari temple. Preliminary investigation revealed that he had reportedly procured the weed from abroad, the police said.
