Construction projects under the Vada Chennai Valarchi Thittam (North Chennai Development Scheme) are expected to be expedited following an inspection on Thursday (January 11, 2025) by Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments and Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) P.K. Sekar Babu.
The minister inspected the ₹20.33 crore ground-plus-five-floor residential buildings under construction at Jamalia on Madhavaram High Road and the ₹27.71 crore stilt-plus-nine-floor residential buildings on Paper Mills Road, Raja Thottam. He directed engineers and contractors to expedite the work and complete the projects, a release stated.
The minister also visited the Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar bus terminus, being built at a cost of ₹6 crore, and instructed officials to speed up the construction work, according to the release.
Additional Chief Secretary for Housing and Urban Development Kakarla Usha, Tamil Nadu Housing Board Managing Director Dr. S. Prabhakar, and senior officials from CMDA and the Greater Chennai Corporation accompanied the minister during the visit. Local representatives, councillors, and officials from various departments were also present during the inspection.
