Various issues related to higher education in the State, including promoting research excellence and attracting international students to Kerala, will be discussed at a two-day conclave organised by the Department of Higher Education at the Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) on January 14 and 15.
“Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the programme on Tuesday [January 14],” said R. Bindu, Minister for Higher Education, on Saturday (January 11). The conclave would also explore opportunities to enhance job prospects in the State by leveraging advanced research and technological advancements, she added.
Academicians, professors, researchers, student representatives, industry sector members, and delegates from various international organisations will attend.
An exhibition will be held on the Cusat campus on January 13 as part of the conclave. It is open to the public, with various universities and higher education institutes from across the State participating.
Ms. Bindu said that a new scheme, ‘Study in Kerala,’ was being implemented by the State Higher Education Council to attract international students for academic programmes in the State. The government had spent around ₹2,000 crore to develop basic infrastructure in the higher education sector, she added.
