‘Tiruchi Thiruvizha 2025‘ a festival hosted by the Tiruchi Zone of Confederation of Indian Industry to showcase the region’s culture and heritage, got under way at the Uzhavar Sandhai grounds at Anna Nagar in Tiruchi on Saturday.
The two-day cultural fest began with Collector M. Pradeep Kumar, Mayor M. Anbazhagan and Corporation Commissioner V. Saravanan flagging off a motorcycle rally to highlight road safety.
Folk arts such as Mayilattam, Mohiniattam, Bharatanatyam, Silambam, and other forms of traditional arts were showcased to usher in a festive mood to the event. To bolster the festive sentiment, participants would be encouraged to take part in cooking Pongal on Sunday.
A dog, laser, air and drone shows are scheduled on Sunday. A treasure hunt covering places of historical significance in Tiruchi is scheduled with winners set to win 25 grams of silver coins per head upon completion of quest.
Various vehicle dealers and real estate promoters too have set shop with special offers.
The cultural fest is intended to attract investors encouraging them to capitalise on the city’s emerging opportunities. “The event aims at building a brand for Tiruchi by highlighting its various advantages, so as to attract investors. We have started in a small way and hope to make it an annual feature in the city,” said Chella Ramaswami, Chairman, CII-Tiruchi Zone.
