Tiruchi MP Durai Vaiko on Saturday asked the officials to expedite the ongoing development work in a time-bound manner.

Speaking at the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee meeting here, he said that there were complaints of poor roads in the city. The officials had cited the ongoing underground drainage work as the reason. The projects should be completed as early as possible. All damaged roads should be re-laid.

Mr. Durai Vaiko said that the Tiruchi Corporation had taken up the formation of approach road on Fort Station Road. However, the work on building the overbridge was yet to be taken up. Hence, the railways should start the work immediately. The project should be completed in a time-bound manner as the roads in the area had been facing heavy pressure since the closure of the Fort Station Road.

Similarly, a number of accidents had occurred on the service lane near G. Corner on Tiruchi-Chennai Highway. The service lane was narrow. Driving on it had become risky. The problem should be addressed as early as possible. A combined spot visit involving the Southern Railway and the National Highway Authority of India officials should be taken up.

Education loan

Perambalur MP K.N. Arun Nehru said that education loan had been playing a key element over students getting quality education. The applications should be properly processed and steps must be taken to extend loan to all needy students.

Mr. Arun Nehru said that proper attention must be paid to solve the issues faced by micro small and medium enterprises. All schemes of the Union and the State governments should be executed within the time frame.

Karur MP S. Jothimani, Tiruchi Collector M. Pradeep Kumar, Mayor M. Anbazhagan, Corporation Commissioner V. Saravanan and officials of the Union and the State government departments participated. The MPs reviewed the progress of various schemes, which were being implemented in the district.

Earlier, Mr. Pradeep Kumar, Mr. Durai Vaiko and Mr. Arun Nehru participated in the Pongal festival held on the premises of the Collector’s Office. A few foreign tourists too took part in the celebrations.
