Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath flags off ‘Mahakumbh Special Buses’ of Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporation, in Prayagraj.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday (January 11, 2025) issued directions for operating buses from all districts of the State to Prayagraj so that people can bathe in the Sangam during the 2025 Mahakumbh. Mr. Adityanath issued directive in a meeting with the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) officials to review preparations for the grand event. The CM instructed that bus services should be available throughout the Mahakumbh period and stressed for the need of issuing a detailed timetable for these bus services and widely publicised it for public convenience.
“No passenger should face any inconvenience during their journey. Mr. Adityanath issued strict directives to prevent bus drivers and conductors from consuming intoxicants. Furthermore, private bus operators were instructed to strictly comply with fixed fares and capacity limits, ensuring no overloading or exploitation of passengers,” a statement from U.P. government said.
The UPSRTC is planning to deploy 7,000 buses for the Maha Kumbh with 550 shuttle buses dedicated to the fairgrounds for easy mobility within the area.
U.P. Transport Minister Daya Shankar Singh, the principal secretary of Transport, the principal secretary to the Chief Minister, and the managing director of the UPSRTC were present in the meeting.
