The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Chairman B.R. Naidu on Saturday announced constitution of two committees comprising members of the Trust Board to personally visit and distribute the ex gratia cheques of ₹25 lakh each to the six families who had lost their beloved ones in the Tirupati stampede.
The committee members accompanied by local legislators will hand over the cheques to the bereaved families on January 12 and collect information for providing a contract job to the kin and free education to their children in the TTD-run institutions.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting on Saturday, presided over by Mr. Naidu at his camp office at Tirumala.
The committee visiting Visakhapatnam and Narsipatnam consists of board members Jyothula Nehru, Janga Krishnamurthy and Panabaka Lakshmi, while the other one consisting of Rama Murthy, Krishna Murthy Vaidyanathan and Suchitra Ella will visit the families belonging to Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
The committees will distribute ₹5 lakh and ₹2 lakh cheques to those seriously and partially injured in the incident.
Meanwhile, in the evening, Mr. Naidu formally handed over cheques to the families of seven injured who are still undergoing treatment at SVIMS hospital in Tirupati.
