Mangaluru: Four alleged drug peddlers held, 103 gm of MDMA seized


The Mangaluru police have arrested four alleged drug peddlers and seized 103 gm of MDMA, two cars, five mobile phones, and other material worth ₹15.52 lakh.

A police release said on Saturday that Gautam, 22, of Talapady, Karthik, 27, of Kumpala, and Nikhil, 28, of Thokkotu, were arrested for their alleged attempt to sell synthetic narcotic drug MDMA near Industrial estate in Pajeer on November 25. The police seized ₹7.76 lakh worth of articles, including 50 gm of MDMA, a car, three mobile phones, and a digital weighing machine from them.

Based on the information given by the three accused, the police arrested Mohammed Alfaz, 24, from Mudipu, who had allegedly supplied MDMA. The police seized articles worth ₹7.76 lakh, including 53 gm of MDMA, smoke pot, car, and two mobile phones from him.

The four accused were arrested by the anti-drug team of South Police Sub-Division that comprised Police Inspector B. Rajendra, Police Sub-Inspectors S. Nagaraj, Ashok, and Vinod, Assistant Sub-Inspectors Sajeev., C. Mahesh, and Reshma.

Three booked

The Bantwal Rural police booked Mohammed Dawood Hakeem and Mohammed Mustafa after tests found the two were positive for consumption of cannabis in Kumpana Majalu of Pudu village on November 29.

The Sullia police booked A. Dhanraj of Kasba village of Sullia after he was found positive of consuming cannabis. Police took Dhanraj for test after he was found behaving indifferently in the KSRTC Sullia bus stand on November 28.

They were booked under Section 27 (B) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, the police said.
