As cyclone Fengal is moving towards Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu, Bengaluru woke up to a cloudy morning on Saturday. India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts cloudy weather in Bengaluru and other parts of Karnataka for the next 24 hours. The city is also expected to receive light to moderate rainfall.
According to D. Puviarasan, a scientist at IMD, Bengaluru, Fengal, that was located over the southwest Bay of Bengal is moving towards Mahabalipuram and is expected to make landfall between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram. Mr. Puviarasan noted that the cyclone Fengal is weakening as it is currently moving towards the area where it will make landfall.
For the next 24 hours, cloudy weather will prevail in Bengaluru, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Ramanagara and Chamarajanagara. These districts are also expected to receive light to moderate rainfall.
However, on Monday (December 2, 2024), according to the forecast, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in Mandya, Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts. The impact of Fengal may be less in Karnataka as the cyclone is weakening.
Temperatures will hover around 26° C during the day and 17° C during this period. Earlier widespread rainfall was forecast in these districts, but now the scenario has altered a little, IMD sources said.
