Wondr Diamonds, a lab-grown diamonds brand, presents the second edition of its Wealth Out of Waste contest targeted at school children. “Lab-grown diamonds are a sustainable luxury option,” says R Thanigaivel, the chief operations officer of the company that has 16 branches across India, with 12 in Tamil Nadu, including in places such as Madurai, Dindigul, Coimbatore, Paramakudi, and Dharapuram.

The contest, is to drive home the message of sustainability the brand stands for, explains Thanigaivel. To participate, children are encouraged to create works of art using 100% recyclable material. Usage of materials such as plastic and polystyrene is not encouraged. The contest is open for children in two age groups: six to nine, and 10 to 14.

“Children, accompanied by their parents, are to bring their models to one of our showrooms in their respective cities,” explains Thanigaivel, adding that they can also give a small presentation, highlighting what their model stands for, the material used, among others. “Last year, we had over 2,000 entries across South India,” he says: “We will be judging the models based on the originality of their thought process. It can also be a working a working model; all that matters is creativity and ensuring materials used are 100% recyclable.”

Every participant will be recognised with a certificate and a gift on the day of submission. There will be three winners in each city under each age category, and a final three overall winners. Winners stand a chance to win prizes worth ₹20 lakhs worth and certificates.

The contest is open till December 15, and winners will be announced on December 22 at the respective outlets in each city. For details, call 6374714156.
