Shivamogga district unit of BJP expels five supporters of Kumar Bangarappa

The Shivammogga district unit of the BJP has expelled five party workers in Soraba taluk on charges of anti-party activities.

BJP district president T.D. Megharaj, in a communiqué to the media on Friday, said that M.D. Umesh, Vruthikoppa Mallikarjun, Gurukumar Patil, Shivana Gowda, and Krishnamurthy had been expelled from the party based on the basis of a report from the party’s Sorab block.

The members had recently held a press conference and spoke against some leaders of the party. They had discussed internal issues of the party in public forum and spoken against the party’s office-bearers.

The workers expelled are said to be followers of former BJP MLA Kumar Bangarappa, who has identified with BJP leader Basanagouda Patil Yatnal. The act of expulsion is being viewed as a party’s message to Mr. Kumar Bangarappa.
