The security lapse during Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s visit to ‘Manyam’ district has drawn sharp criticism from Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, who has ordered a thorough investigation into the matter.

Mr. Kalyan, who is under Y-category security, was reportedly surrounded by Balivada Surya Prakash Rao, raising questions about the effectiveness of his protective detail. Further controversy erupted when some police personnel were seen saluting Mr. Surya Prakash Rao, whose attire appears like an IPS officer. Some of the police officials allegedly had photos with Mr. Surya Prakash Rao.

Expressing concern over the incident, Ms. Anitha, in a statement on Saturday (December 28, 2024) stated, “Any lapse in the security of the Deputy Chief Minister is unacceptable. A detailed inquiry has been initiated and strict action will be taken against those found negligent.”

The incident has sparked discussions about protocol violations and the accountability of security personnel assigned to high-profile leaders. The investigation is expected to examine the chain of events and ensure such breaches do not recur.
