Residents of Barakath Nagar complain of inadequate supply of drinking water

Residents of Barakath Nagar Third Street in Thuvvakudi have complained about inadequate supply of drinking water in the past two weeks.

Barakath Nagar Third Street, where 50 families live, gets drinking water supply through a single public tap installed by the Thuvakudi Municipality.  The supply was allegedly disconnected 15 days ago as the area was declared as kulatthu poromboke land.  The residents complained that the area had been categorised as poromboke by mistake and they continued to pay taxes. Many had to travel long distance to fetch drinking water, they said in a petition submitted to the Collector.
