Programme on startups

Syed Ammal Arts and Science College, Ramanathapuram, organised a faculty development programme, ‘Startup, the complete journey.’ Sampath, Assistant Professor of Physics, welcomed the gathering. Principal P. Balakrishnan delivered the presidential address. Trust member J. Fatheema Sanas Farook offered felicitations. M. Karthikeyan, Head of Computer Science, Syed Ammal Engineering College, was the resource person. He gave insights on becoming an entrepreneur and also on start-up TN. V. Tamizhazhagan, IQAC Coordinator, proposed the vote of thanks. Sridhar, Head, Department of Bio Technology, and C. Balamurugan, Assistant Professor of Tamil, had made the arrangements.

A seminar on ‘Application of smart computing techniques for sustainable business development’ was conducted at SSM College of Arts and Science, Dindigul, on December 13. TKS. Lakshmi Priya, an academic consultant from Coimbatore was the resource person. She explained how smart computing techniques can be used to develop a business idea and how it can be converted into a sustainable venture.

Job fair held

The Placement Cell of V.V.Vanniaperumal College for Women conducted a job fair for the outgoing students on December 19. Zencorp Techno Solutions, Vertical Solutions and Canbridge English Academy from Chennai visited the campus to recruit the students. As many as 1,052 students participated in the job fair and 742 among them got placements.

The Central Library and Department of Library and Information Science, of G.T.N. Arts College,
Dindigul, organised a two-day conference on ‘Artificial Intelligence and and Green Revolution: Transforming Library Management for a Sustainable Future’ on December 12 and 13. The event highlighted AI’s transformative role in promoting sustainable library management. Keynote speakers included M. Doraswamy, Vice-Chancellor (I/c), Dravidian University; N. Panchanatham, V-C, Gandhigram Rural Institute; and Rakesh Kumar Bhatt of University of Delhi.A total of 94 research papers were presented, with 12 papers recognised with ‘Best Paper” awards.

The Standard Fireworks Rajaratnam College for Women, Sivakasi, organised a training programme on ‘Production of eco-friendly products’ for self-help group women on December 19. A. Karthika Devi, Assistant professor of Microbiology; explained the process of preparing compost using leaf litter and biodegradable waste., M. Punitha Gowri, a beautician, demonstrated preparation of ‘Nalungu Maavu’ soap, carrot and beetroot Soap, wine soap and D-tan soap. J. Vinnarasi, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, demonstrated preparation of phenyl from neem oil, liquid blue and ink from Auri powder. K. Shenbagabhavani, Assistant Professor of BCA, demonstrated making of studs, bangles and hip belt with clay. Kalainanmani Thulasi Kannan of Ajanta Arts and Crafts, Madurai, demonstrated making of ornamental toys using coconut shell.
