HYDERABAD

Telangana Deputy Chief Minister M. Bhatti Vikramarka, who holds the portfolios of Finance and Energy too, has asked the bankers to speed up the disbursement of loans for the Rabi/Yasangi crops as the loans would be useful only if they are given in time.

Speaking at the State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) meeting held in Hyderabad on Monday (December 23, 2024), he assured the people that they would witness a vibrant Telangana in the days to come as their government would take up programmes that would draw attention of the country. He stated that the government would soon call tenders for the Regional Ring Road (RRR) works.

Stating that the government was committed to keep as much money as possible in circulation by releasing funds for the implementation of various programmes to keep the economy buoyant on a regular basis, the Deputy Chief Minister said matching grants for the Centrally-sponsored schemes too would be released regularly.

The State Government was taking the Musi Riverfront Development project prestigiously along with establishment of Skill and Sports Universities and development of pharmaceutical companies, Mr. Vikramarka said explaining the major projects being taken up by the government.

81.57% of ₹54,480 crore short-term loans for Kharif season disbursed

Alleging that the previous government had neglected the agriculture and welfare sectors badly, Mr. Vikramarka said of the target to disburse ₹54,480 crore short-term (crop) loans for the Vanakalam/Kharif season, the bankers had disbursed ₹44,438 crore (81.57%). As there was a month’s time to disburse loans for Rabi, he asked the bankers to speed up credit support for the second crop season.

Against the practice of releasing higher credit, the bankers in the State were enjoying higher repayment as the government had released ₹21,000 crore for crop loan waiver in two months along with other repayments, the Deputy Chief Minister said suggesting the bankers to focus on disbursing loans to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as it was this particular sector that would create more employment, production and help GSDP growth.

On the government plans to help women self help groups (SHGs) develop 1,000 megawatt solar power generation capacity, he said the government’s long term plan was to make them generate 4,000 MW. He asked the bankers to finance the green energy generation projects widely.

Minister for Agriculture Tummala Nageswara Rao requested the bankers to prepare the credit plan keeping in mind the interests of the farming community. He asked the bankers to organise farm mechanisation exhibitions as also support the drones in agriculture.
