Opposition allegations against enquiry against M. R. Ajithkumar proved right, says Satheesan

The Leader of the Opposition V. D. Satheesan claimed here on Sunday that the Opposition stand that the inquiry against M. R. Ajithkumar is a sham has been proved right. The inquiry was ordered because of political and public pressure. He has not even been suspended and was immediately promoted as DGP and given all the accompanying benefits. The Opposition had predicted that the inquiry would be conducted by officials below him, who would give him a clean chit, Mr. Satheesan maintained.

There have been serious allegations against Mr. Ajithkumar. He met RSS leaders as a messenger from the Chief Minister. So the Chief Minister was bound to protect Mr. Ajithkumar despite pressure from all quarters.

The Leader of the Opposition also maintained that the Union government had adopted a position of defiance when it comes to help for those affected by the tragedy in Mundakkai and Chooralmala. The State government was displaying utter bankruptcy. The latter has not been able to find land for rehabilitation of the affected people. The list of the affected people too is also a case of mismanagement and inefficiency, he alleged.

Mr. Satheesan also claimed as false the allegation by the CPI(M) leader M. Vijayaraghavan that Priyanka Gandhi’s victory in Wayanad was with the support of communal forces. This is the CPI(M) line. The party has been adopting a position to make the Sangh Parivar happy in the past, he added. He also said that as the leader of the Opposition he is not above criticism. Social and political leaders and party members can criticise him, he added but those in the party should raise their criticism in party forums. If there is a need for correcting himself he will do it, Mr. Satheesan said and added that those in party positions should not be disturbed when they are criticised.
